Application Arrangements for MTR Student Travel Scheme 2025/2026
To bring students with convenience in applying for the MTR Student Travel Scheme, the MTR’s online application platform will be open for new applications at 10am on 14 August 2025 and for renewal applications on 1 September 2025. Eligible students may complete the application process using a mobile phone or through the MTR website and do not need to queue for endorsement by the University or at the station.

Important remark:
Purchase of the temporary Octopus Card will not be available before application approval. To enjoy the concessionary fares, students are advised to submit their application as soon as the online application platform is open. For students who are holding an approved Personalized Octopus or Personalized Mobile Octopus with "Student Status”, the concession will expire no earlier than 31 October as usual.
Application period
The online application for MTR Student Travel Scheme 2025/2026 is open all year round starting from 14 August 2025 for new applications and 1 September 2025 for renewal applications. Students currently outside Hong Kong may apply upon returning or arrival in Hong Kong.
Eligibility

Students registered in a full-time day course and at the age below 26.

Students who are on leave and not paying tuition fee will not be eligible for the scheme until they resume their studies or update their registered student status.

“Full-time day course” refers to a day-time course, which typically requires students to attend a recognized local institution for at least 20 hours of academic instruction per week for 30 weeks or more in an academic year.
